Social Circle has another treasure in the just opened Creation and Natural History Museum behind the Blue Willow Inn.  The Hurt family has brought in pieces of nature from all over the world - colorful rocks& minerals; fishes; mammals; birds; butterflies; shells; fossils; and even replicas of dinasours.  The musuem is a must see for chldren, especially, because they will be amazed and delighted at the sights before them, all a part of the miraculous world of nature. There are over 300 animals represented including a 16 ft giraffe!.  And do not miss the gift shop where natural wonders are available for purchace along with lovely artwork and other goodies.

The musuem is the work of the Hurt family, headed by daddy, Joseph and his wife Barbara and their four adult children, who each specialize in an aspect of making the musuem a reality from robotics to design to molding fiberglass then precisely painting it to look real.  Mr. Hurt  began his career as a taxidermist then grew in his craft to redo the Cyclorama and help create Epcot Center and work on other Disney properties in Tokyo and Costa Rica as well as doing work for the Kennedy Space Center tourist center.  And now they live and work in Social Circle.
